Facebook is currently beta testing a new Buy button which would allow users to purchase a product or deal directly within the app without leaving to an external website. This is big news on many levels because the more simple and quick the buying process is made, the more likely people are to buy. Part of the success behind sites like Grab One has been the ease with which their users can buy tempting new deals put in front of them on a daily basis. No more clicking away to a foreign website, finding your way to the cart only to have to spend five minutes adding in your shipping details and credit card payment.
The process is powered by a San Francisco start up called Stripe who operate a very simple cart tool across thousands of sites already. Once you have linked your credit card and shipping details securely within the Stripe platform every time you see something you fancy within Facebook with a buy button, it is all yours with one simple click. Sounds dangerous for shopaholics and fantastic for marketers who will be able to easily convert their Facebook Fans into revenue with quality product offerings and deals within Facebook.
We’ll keep you posted when this new option hits Kiwi shores.
